Hearing From God

I want to share one of my experiences with hearing from God and how you can know His still, soft voice.

It all started in September of 2023. Angel's Attic is a ministry that helps the needy in many ways. I was asking them what kind of donations they needed the most. They said, "We always need sheets, towels, blankets and pillows."

I thought that this was something that God could help us with. Initially, I went to several yard sales, collecting all kinds of donations to bring back to Angel's Attic, but I realized that filling their needs this way would take a lot of time and yard sales. I started to pray and ask the Lord to help with this need.

"Dear Lord, how can I get these much needed items for this ministry?" Then I asked again. "Dear Lord, how can I get these much needed items?" And the Lord said, "You're not ready." I waited and got quiet. After several minutes, the Lord said, "Are you ready?' And I said, "Yes Lord!" Then He said, "Call hotels." I said, "Call hotels?!" and the Lord said, "Yes". So that is what I did.

The thought of calling hotels gave me some anxiety and my voice was shaky, but I called anyway and asked, "Do you have any donations of towels, sheets, pillows, and blankets?" The first hotel gave us four boxes of new pillows with eight pillows in each box. I was so excited! Then I called more hotels and was able to get more donations.

None of this would have happened if I hadn't reached out to the Lord for help and listened to His still, soft voice. Since then, we have received many needed items for this ministry as well as others, from local hotels. As a matter of fact, now they call me when they have donations available. Then I pick them up and deliver them to those ministries in need.

Seeing what God can do through us and for us is amazing as we walk in obedience and listen to Him. May this testimony bless and encourage you in your walk with the Lord.
