How Do You Start Your Day?
I have a friend, named Barbara, who has a lot of energy, loves to learn and who is always looking for ways to help others. Her prayer life is true conversation with God. She loves to talk to the Lord and then she actually listens and obeys. Not long ago, as she was praying, she felt as if the Lord encouraged her in this way, "Don't waste your gifts." That inspiration sent her on a journey to increase her knowledge so that she could better use the gifts that she has.
Now, when she wakes up each morning, she asks the Lord, "Who would You like me to I help today? What can I do for someone today?" Invariably, she finds herself on another adventure. From my perspective, life with the Lord is always exciting. You may not know where you're heading or what you're going to be doing, but you can always count on it being in your best interest. Also, if your heart's desire is to help others, it will be in their best interest as well.
Her latest adventure came soon after her mother died. Of course, she was sad, but still looking outside herself. She started speaking with an elderly woman she had known for quite a while, but this time it was different. The woman started to share about her life and how over 40 years ago, the Lord had given her songs and poems. She never shared them because she didn't know how. When Barbara heard this, she was inspired to help her. Consequently, she helped her create a beautiful book with amazing pictures relating to the songs and poems as well as a playlist of them all.

What impacted me the most was the fact that the Lord brought Audrey and her life stories into Barbara's life at just the right moment for each of them. Doing this project for Audrey brought healing to Barbara's heart. Having Barbara bring her stories, songs and poems to life, brought a renewed excitement and life to Audrey. After 40 years, she can finally share the gifts that God has given her and leave a legacy that will last forever.
As Barbara goes forward doing her best to follow God's lead, more and more doors of opportunity are opening for her. It's a real blessing to watch how God is using Barbara to bless everyone He puts in her path.
