Angels Watching Over You - 3+

Psalm 91:11-12 "“For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.”

This is another one of John's saving grace moments. Several years ago, he lived in a small house that had about five or six steps going up to the front door. One day, after a rain, as he left his house, his foot slipped on the top step. Naturally speaking, he should have fallen flat on his back on the stairs and hurt his back which already had a great deal of damage.

Instead, he said that all he remembered was slipping, and then finding himself sitting at the bottom of the stairs. No injuries! No pain! Incredible, you say? John always felt as if the angels caught him and laid him down gently on the ground at the foot of the stairs.

Another time, John and I were driving south on I 75. I was driving and I am sure he was praying as he saw what was about to unfold. It was a time before there were guard rails on the highway. As I watched the road, all of a sudden, I saw a car crossing the median and aimed right towards us, going full speed! There was nowhere for me to go to avoid the pending head on collision. At the last second, he veered back across the median and back onto the highway.

Lucky break? I don't think so. I believe it was God's protection over us.

I was leaving Gulf Gate Mall on Gulf Gate Drive toward 41. The light changed and I moved forward to turn left, but all the cars in front of me had come to a stop, so I was stuck, with nowhere to go. I looked to my left and saw a car traveling at a high speed right toward the driver's side of my car as if he never saw his red light. At the last minute, it was if he hit an invisible wall and bounced back. He didn't skid or anything. He just stopped at the light. I turned to my passenger and said, "You have just witnessed a miracle", because there was no way in the natural that a car traveling at that speed could stop that quickly without sliding. Praise the Lord for His hand of protection!

Angels Watching Over You

Psalm 91:11-12 "“For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.”

I experienced this miracle recently. A couple of months ago, I had a total knee replacement on my right knee. I was still using a walker and since we were running a little late, my driver dropped me off by the entrance to my doctor's office. As I was getting closer to the open door, I realized that the back legs of my walker had caught the mat that was on the ground. I knew that if I lifted the walker a little, it would disengage from the rug and I could move forward, which is what I did.

Apparently, the legs were caught more than I imagined, so as I moved forward, all I remember is that I saw the front of the walker falling forward. According to the laws of physics, I should have crashed my face into the ground and hurt several different parts of me. Instead, I opened my eyes and I was lying on the ground with my feet entangled in my walker. Nothing was hurt, I didn't feel the landing at all. One of the observers said that she had never seen a more graceful fall. Another observer picked my walker up. Everyone was concerned, but I rolled over and just asked for a chair, so that I could pull myself up. They got a chair and I stood right up! No damage! No scrapes! No injuries!. Only God could protect me like that by sending His angels to catch me and lay me down gently.

As I reflected on this, I remembered other times of which I am aware, that God sent His angels to save me or someone I loved. I will share more of these amazing stories in the weeks to come. I am sure that God has protected me more times than I can count. He is with me always, as He is with all of you.

Angels Watching Over You - 2

Psalm 91:11-12 "“For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.”

This is one example of the many that John told me about. John had a cub riding mower which had the steering bars that went across the front of his body. He loved his mower and loved cutting our grass and our neighbors' grass.

One day, as he was mowing the back yards and was moving closer to the lake that is behind our home, the unthinkable happened! Our neighbor was having his pool serviced and the technician was draining some of the water from the pool. The water was coming out of a hose the was camouflaged in the grass. John never saw it.

The mower slid on the water and started to fall backwards into the lake! Because of the steering bars across his body, John knew that he could not get off the mower before it fell into the lake. He knew that if it did, he would be drowned beneath the weight of the mower. As the mower moved into a perpendicular position and started to go backwards, John said that it seemed as if a strong hand pressed down on the front of the mower and saved John's life.

A few years prior, John's son had died at the age of 27. He was always kind of a strongman, and John felt that the Lord sent his son as the angel that saved John's life.

The mower was so stuck in the mud of the lake, that John needed to use his 1976 International Scout to pull it out of the lake. The mower needed a part to get it running again, so John went to Home Depot to get it. He was telling the salesperson about his experience and the salesperson told John that he had recently heard a similar story, except with a much more tragic ending.

I am so grateful that the Lord sent His angels to protect and save John in a most impossible situation.

Think about your life. I know that God is protecting us even when we are not aware of it. I also know that if we start to look for those situations we will realize how many times God has been there for us.
